Yucatan - Salt, Pepper and Spice Mill
The Yucatan Mill is a simple oiled beech wood grinder by Michele De Lucchi for Alessi. Using a ceramic grinding mechanism, it's tough enough to be used as a pepper mill and stable enough as a salt mill, so can be used for either, or other spices.
De Lucchi wanted to make a simple spice mill that doesn't pretend to be something else. The tactile wooden object reflects De Lucci's extensive experience as a wood sculptor, and shows a similarity to Aztec totems, so it takes it's name from the Mexican region Yucatan.
The mill is filled from the top, into a metal canister within the wooden body, and features an adjustable grinder for fine or coarse milling. As a B-Corp, Alessi is certified in reaching the highest environmental and social standards. The sibling to the Yucatan grinder is the Oaxaca grinder.
